Polar Vortex Fun

Brace yourself! Polar air is swooping down from the North pole. Having lived in this cold state for a long time, I have come up with a list of fun things to do when a Polar Vortex (Or cold temperatures that you are not used too) comes around.

1. Pinterest!
Why not spend your day Pinteresting or cleaning up your Pinterest? It could be very productive.

2. Cook or bake!

Since you just cleaned up your Pinterest, why not make one of those thousands of recipes you have pinned. You know you want too. 

3. Do a craft!

Be crafty! Make Polar Vortex snowmen, or socks, or shoes.

4. Drink Wine!

5. Play sensory games with your baby if you have one. It is way to cold to take kids out, so make the indoors fun!

6. Move to a warm state! 

This is only if you cannot handle all the Polar Vortex(es) that may come around. They are not for the weak. 

What I plan to do this week end is bake, make freezer meals, play and snuggle with Winston, and  my peanut. He is 13 months and loves to run and play.

It's that time of year....

where I start thinking about gardens. Last year, I didn't have a lot of sun light in my little tiny apartment. Due to that, none of my plants really grew, outside or inside. But this year, I have a small yard!!!!

So of course, I'm planning my herb garden. I really want to try something like this:

With the following herbs:

• Basil
• Mint varieties (Peppermint, chocolate mint, grapefruit mint)
• Oregano
• Parsley
• Cilantro
• Dill 
• Chives

Of course, I also want to make my flower pots look pretty. These pictures are from a blog called The Cottage Garden

There are so many things I want to try. What about you?

Sometimes I like to have fun and dabble with photography. I have ideas, and photos I would love to copy.  Then I try them and I fail. But the point is I try. I know one day I will be able to take some really good pictures. Right now, since we haven't had a chance to get professional photos done, I have been trying to take some of my own. But they don't always look the greatest. Some pictures I would love to try include the following:

If you visit...

Can you bring food?

I'm trying to get used to motherhood, but things are, well, my little boy loves to cry all night long. And with my husband working night, it's just me.  I do my best, but sometimes I want to cry too.

And then people want to visit.

And the house ins't as clean as I would like. I'm so tired all the time, and hungry, and then to feed people?!?!?!?


If you visit, please bring food. Food is wonderful. And snacks are great...like this:

Oh the knitter in me

It's been a long time since I have talked abut knitting. So to start....Sometimes, I wish people would just let me sit down and knit until I don't want to knit any more.

Or just let me play around on pinterest or in knitting books because

But no. It doesn't happen.  Although when I do get the time to look at pinterest...sometimes I like the tings I see, other  times I try the project and it's a fail. 

This one was a fail...doesn't work. 

And sadly this one doesn't work all the time too :(

And these are super cute...but they don't lead to a pattern. O boy.  Why does pinterest do this to me?

Fall decorating

Who is excited that it's fall?  I know I am. I also know that by the end of this busy, busy week...all will be set in my life (hopefully).

1. By Sunday night I want to be out of all the boxes and have everything done.
2. Starting next week I want to think about how to decorate for fall.
3. On Wednesday I have a doctors appointment....I'm hoping that starting in October we can start to get stuff for the baby, or at least register.
4. I'm hoping for a frost since my allergies out here in the country are going crazy.


Anyways, here are some ideas I would like to be able to do...I don't know if I can do them, we will have to see.

The Cottage Market is a great blog to check out. I really like and all the ideas that they have.

Fabric on the walls...how cool would this be in the nursery?

Pumpkins for fall? Even if we can't hang them on the door, I think having some outside could be fun. 

I for sure want to do this. Inside and out!

OHPinteresting..summer

Tomorrow is August, which I view as the last month of summer. The last month before school starts (Of course not all the time, some places have year round schooling, other places start in August...like here)

So, of course why not pin some summer fun activities that I would love to be able to do.

I love fresh fruit, I hate the fruit flies that comes with them. I can never seem to get rid

of them...they suck. 

This is in tribute to the weather we've been having....it's been so nice. I love when it's like 60 degrees. 

These don't just entertain kiddos...they also entertain me. I guess that makes me a kid at heart.

Happy Wednesday and Happy 4th.

I am going away for the week end and I don't think I will be able to write a post at all. Maybe if I have time, or a chance to get on the internet, but I really don't think that will happen. So, Happy 4th of July!!! Do you know why America celebrates it? I sure hope so, because I found out today, that not everyone knows why. I also found out that not all the kids know the history of this date and our countries history. As a teacher, this is appalling to me, as a red blooded American...What in the world are our schools teaching?

And now on to some pins for the 4th. Just to let you all know, I have been super busy lately, and haven't been pinning as much as I want too (Insert sad face) but I still think these pins cut it.

What is your favorite room?

My husband and I were having a very interesting conversation this week. We were talking about our dream house.  What it would be like to build one/ design one. (This is all a dream, we cannot afford to build one)  One thing that we began talking about was designing our favorite rooms. H said he wants to design the master bathroom. But for me, it would be the kitchen.

I learned how to walk in a kitchen. I love to cook and bake, and I think some of the best conversations happen in the kitchen.  So, of course I pinned some kitchen that I liked.

My dream kitchen has to have a pantry. I would love a walk-in one. I think it would be great. 

A hidden dishwasher...how cool is that. 

I love the colors and the natural light. I think the best kitchens are ones, that look open, and welcoming. The have a seat for almost everyone, or at least counter top space for people to sit on. They smell great! Like...fresh food.

Fairy Gardens and Poppy

I have wonderful, wonderful news.

Poppy (My beautiful lemon tree) has new leaves and new branches!  I will post pictures later when I'm able to get them off of my phone. It is horrible not having a working camera. I may post about ones that I'm looking at and would like to buy. But back to my tree. Poppy has new branches and leaves and that means only on thing, in 2 years Poppy will be producing lemons. And I cannot wait to use those lemons!!!

Do you ever...

Feel that you have insomnia? Recently I have been finding it real hard to stay asleep. My mind is going  thousand miles an hour. I wake up because of my husbands snoring and from there I can't get back to sleep. I start thinking about how I can find a real teaching job, how to pay for student loans, is there a way to make more money, just stuff like that. And I'm sure everyone has those worries. But what do you do when you can't sleep because of it?

Do you ever feel that you have nothing to say?  I know there are times that I do? I also wonder about the link-ups. Should I do more, should I do less? And what ones should I do?  I know there are Sunday socials and Monday socials and week-end recaps that I can join but I don't know what ones. So for today I'm going to try just one (With no post tomorrow)

Oh how Pinteresting - Poop n' Giggles

Yesterday my husband decided to give our dog some new food. He said it would be fine and Winston would like it. Well, Winston did like it, and he ate all of it, but this morning I came home to a dog who has had a reaction to the food. And when I say reaction, I mean a reaction. 

 And by everywhere, I mean it was everywhere. On the floor, on the couch, on the fresh cleaned blankets, on the bed, and on him. The best part, he saw me, ran up to me, and jumped on me, so also it was on me. Ugh. Naturally  I cleaned it up (Who wouldn't?) but needless to say, Winston is not ever getting some special canned dog food again. and as for Winston...

 So this lead me to find and pin funny animal memes. And of course since it is Wednesday, I'm linking up with....
